Floodwater is beginning to affect a number of roads in Cumbria.

Heavy rain continues to batter the county, with a Met Office weather warning in place until noon on Thursday.

Flooding is being reported on the following roads:

  • B5301 both ways blocked due to flooding from A596 West Street to Arkleby village.
  • Brisco Road - Wreay blocked both ways due to flooding from Wreay Gardens to Newbiggin Road.
  • A69 partially blocked by flooding between Warwick Bridge and Brampton. Traffic having to straddle both lanes to get through.
  • A595 Red Dial to Bolton Low Houses barely passable due to flooding and collision. Traffic having to straddle both lanes to get through.
  • A595 Wigton to Curthwaite turn-off flooded but passable with care. Debris also reported.
  • A596 Waverton to High Scales passable with care due to flooding.
  • B5302 Waverbridge to Abbeytown barely passable due to flooding at Wheyrigg Hall.
  • B5299 Dalston to Welton Road impassable due to flooding. 4x4 vehicles getting through with extra care.
  • Carlisle Newbiggin Road - Durdar to Brisco Crossroads impassable due to flooding. 4x4 vehicles getting through with extra care.
  • Carlisle Cumwhinton Road - barely passable due to flooding between Sewell Lane and the Motorway Bridge.
  • Carleton road between London Road and Cumwhinton Road (past The Milk Shed) impassable due to flooding.
  • B6263 barely passable due to flooding at Cumwhinton and Wetheral.
  • Station Road (Wigton) - closed due to flooding.
  • Rail - Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Barrow and Carlisle disruption is expected until 9pm.
  • Unconfirmed reports say the area around Irthing Bridge, Brampton, has been flooded and is not passable.
