Police have confirmed a man has died following an incident at the Lillyhall Industrial Estate this morning.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "Police received a report from the North West Ambulance Service at 10.16am today (15 January) to an incident at a unit at Pittwood Road, Lillyhall Industrial Estate, Workington.

"A 20-year-old man, from Whitehaven, was pronounced deceased a short time later.

"A joint investigation with the Health & Safety Executive is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

"At this time there are no suspicious circumstances in connection with this death. The coroner has been informed."

Emergency services including The Great North Air Ambulance, The North West Ambulance Service and Cumbria Fire and Rescue were also called out to deal with the incident.

A spokesman for The Great North Air Ambulance Service said a team was sent out to the industrial estate in Workington at 10:17 this morning and arrived on the scene at 10:35am.

Due to the nature of the incident, the team then returned to base at 11:23.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "Police received a report from the North West Ambulance Service at 10.16am today of an incident at a unit at Pittwood Road, Lillyhall Industrial Estate, Workington.

"The response to this incident is being coordinated by the Health & Safety Executive."

A HSE spokesman said: "HSE are aware of the incident and our staff have attended  the site to assist the police, who are leading the joint investigation."

The North West Ambulance Service also confirmed it had attented the incident. 

A spokesman for the service said a call was received at 10:07am and an ambulance and rapid response team were sent out. 

Nobody was taken to hospital.
