A TEMPORARY road closure has been put in place to allow United Utilities to carry out works.

The work, which starts today in Silloth, is expected to take around five days to complete.

The works will be carried out from The Crofts, Silloth from about 140m north east of its junction with the B5300 extending in a north easterly direction for about 50m.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and made available via the unrestricted sections of The Crofts and the B5300.

Meanwhile, Cumbria Highways is putting a temporary closure in place to carry out carriageway improvement and surfacing works which are expected to commence on January 18 and are anticipated to take 14 days to complete.

The closure will be on the B5300 and B5301 Stanwix Corner, Silloth; B5300 from a point about 80m south west of its junction with the B5301 for about 200m in a north easterly then north westerly direction.

The closure on the B5301 will be from its junction with the B5300 for about 80m in a south easterly direction.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route will be signed and made available via the unrestricted sections of the B5300 and B5301, A596 and the B5302.

Works are currently being carried out in the area under temporary traffic signals and a 10mph speed limit.
