FIRE service personnel across Cumbria are training the next generation of on-call lifesavers, with more recruits on the way.
Yesterday Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service welcomed the first new group of on-call firefighters to begin initial training.
In the coming weeks, the Cumbria fire service will train 28 new on-call firefighters for stations across the county. All training days are completed in a Covid-19 secure way.
New recruits to the fire service will be trained in small groups at different stations across the county.
All new recruits and staff have been tested for COVID-19 using a Lateral Flow Test device.
The testing provides a positive or negative result quickly, limiting the spread between staff and their family and friends whilst allowing training to go ahead.
The service is currently recruiting on-call firefighters.
