After reinvigorating its apprenticeship programme in 2020, GSK Ulverston wants to build on its success – and to do this the global healthcare company is looking for driven candidates (including school-leavers) passionate about pursuing a career in manufacturing or engineering.

The Zinnat Supply Chain apprentice programme is the first of its kind for GSK, as the apprenticeship spans across both the Ulverston and Barnard Castle sites, which provides an exciting opportunity for individuals who are both outgoing and flexible, and who can integrate effectively into new teams and environments.

The programme will involve rotations between the two Zinnat Supply Chain sites in order to maximise the learning experiences of the apprentices. This gives the potential to land in a permanent role at one of the two sites when their apprenticeship finishes.

Andy Allan, the Early Talent Programme Manager, said: “These apprenticeships will be a key part of the Zinnat Supply Chain’s future ambitions, as people are undoubtably our greatest asset. GSK’s mission is to help people do more, feel better, and live longer, and our apprenticeship programme within this supply chain is absolutely at the heart of this.

“Being the dedicated Early Talent Programme Manager allows me to closely support each and every apprentice, taking them on a learning journey that feels unique to them. They’ll receive lots of support from other managers and colleagues, and have the opportunity to gain independence, forge lasting personal relationships, and spend time in various departments (i.e. Projects, EHS, Quality) to gain a wide breadth of understanding of how the supply chain works.

“Our apprentice programme is held in high regarded – we are known for our unrelenting commitment to the development of apprentices from the moment they step onto site to the end of the apprenticeship programme and beyond. Personal and professional development is at the heart of everything we do.

“Each year we see apprentices completing this programme, not only with the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to undertake the rest of their careers, but also as individuals who can take their new-found maturity and confidence into all aspects of their lives.”

Assessment centres will take place in March/April 2021 on a virtual platform, and the successful candidates will start in September at the Ulverston site, where they’ll be introduced to GSK and learn what is expected of them, before later rotating between the two sites.
