THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice, which covers Cumbria.
Disruption is expected over the next few days with cold weather to sweep over all of northern England and Scotland.
The weather warning will be in place from 5pm on Thursday to 11am on Friday.
The forecaster said: "Icy stretches are likely to form in places leading to slippery conditions and perhaps some disruption to travel."
It said there could be some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and 'probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths'.
Temperatures are expected to drop below zero over the coming days.
