Copeland pupils brought a smile to many people's faces and a tear to a few eyes by taking the time to write letters to older people.

Moor Row Community Primary School year 5 and 6 pupils took part in the 'Chatterboxes Challenge Loneliness project, with Age UK West Cumbria, to bring cheer to people.

The school said on their Facebook page: "We are very proud of each and every one of our pupils. Chatterboxes challenge Loneliness is a project being undertaken by our Year 5 & 6 pupils working with Age UK West Cumbria."

Age UK thanked the school, saying: "Thank you to the wonderful students from years 5 & 6 at Moor Row Community Primary School who created a project to tackle loneliness this Christmas. 20 beautiful letters were posted out to older people in West Cumbria this week. The children also want to encourage other schools in the area to join them in this fantastic project to show inter-generational support across our community."
