THE CANARY Islands have been removed from the Government's covid-19 travel corridor, it was announced.

Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, MP, made the statement on Twitter yesterday.

The move means that holidaymakers will now need to quarantine for two weeks when they return.

However the change comes into force for those returning after 4am on December 12, Saturday.

On his Twitter account Mr Shapps said: "Data indicates weekly cases and positive tests are increasing in the Canary Islands and so we are removing them from the travel corridor list to reduce the risk of importing covid-19."
