A PLEA has been issued to help with Covid-19 vaccinations.

Wigton Town Council issued the plea for people to come forward and help when the time comes.

A spokesman for the council said: “Integrated Care Community teams are busy putting plans in place for the potential Covid-19 vaccinations due out in the near future, subject to getting the go ahead. At this stage, we would be looking for two different roles. Marshals at the venues to ensure social distancing and people not getting lost at the entry or exit points.

“Drivers to support with the transport of vaccinations from storage to venues. This is still at the planning stage and is just an ask if community groups are able to assist.”

This comes on the back of GPs in England being told they will be given 10 days notice before any Covid-19 vaccine roll out begins. A letter from top health officials to family doctors set out more detail on how and when a vaccine will be distributed in communities. Health leaders in England have also said GPs can use £20m towards set up costs for the “biggest vaccination drive in NHS history”.
