COPELAND Mayor Mike Starkie is continuing with his series of podcasts to share information with the borough’s residents and businesses.

Mr Starkie is joined by council colleagues and partners for the half-hour videos, which inform viewers about the help and support that is available to them in Copeland during the current lockdown. Topics covered in the past week include community protection and environmental health, the Track and Trace system, and the business grant application process. Previously recorded podcasts on housing, homelessness and domestic violence support; business grants; council tax and welfare support are also still available at @mayorofcopeland.

He has also been joined by colleagues in the council’s nuclear team to discuss the recently-launched GDF Working Group that has been formed in Copeland.

Mr Starkie said: “Since the start of this pandemic, we have used the range of communication methods available to us to get accurate and timely information and advice to our residents when they need it most, including newsletters, media releases, social media and our website.

“This series of video podcasts that I started in March and am continuing in this second lockdown is another example of our commitment to keeping our residents and businesses fully informed and engaged.

“I know that viewers are finding them extremely useful because our community gets to hear from our officers and partners who are involved on the ground every day, in the grants process or working with people who find themselves in difficulty for example. Often their great work goes unseen but it’s never more important for our community to know about the outstanding work that is going on at Copeland Council and by our partners, and how they can access this support if they need it.”
