POLICE are appealing for information after a suspicious incident in Carlisle city centre.
Officers are lookingi nto a suspicious incident near the Lidl car park on Charlotte Street in the city.
The incident was reported at about 7.30am on Sunday November 15.
Police received reports that a blood-stained knife was found along with a t-shirt and trainers, on the footpath near the car park.
However, when police completed a forensic investigation at the scene, no blood was found on any of the items.
Police are now treating the incident as a possible offence of wasting police time.
Officers are appealing for anyone with any information to contact PC 2531 on 101, referring to incident 38 of November 15.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Those punished for wasting police time are described as diverting the force’s resources for a significant amount of time.
The offence can bring jail time up to six months or a fine.
