Cumbrian butcher and food-maker Cranstons is supporting Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland this festive season with two charity product donations.

It is donating 50p from every Cranstons traditional Christmas pudding and 50p from every pack of pigs in blankets sold.

The business is proud to have a long-term association with Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, raising money for the charity during a number of years as a committed partner.

The Cranstons team have previously held Christmas shopping evenings, sponsored bike rides, fell walks and dragon boat racing.

Both the pigs in blankets and Christmas puddings will be available to buy from all four of Cranstons’ food halls in Carlisle, Brampton, and Penrith, and at Orton Grange. They will also be available at the company’s two traditional butcher’s shops in Penrith and Hexham town centres.

Deputy managing director Martin Jones said: “Due to Covid-19 restrictions we couldn’t support Hospice at Home through our usual Christmas shopping evenings this year. The team didn’t want to let down Hospice at Home, a charity close to our hearts, so decided we would raise our usual funds through increased product donations.

“The pigs in blankets are one of our customers' most-loved lines, and by donating 50p per pack of 12 along with 50p from every Christmas pudding sold we are hopeful this year’s festive fundraising total will be as big as ever.”

Dr Alison Miles, chair of trustees at Hospice at Home, said: “On behalf of the charity I would like to thank our friends and business partners at Cranstons for their long standing support and kindness.

"Each year Cranstons raises significant funds from festive fundraising which helps provide palliative care in the home. The 50p donation generously given from Christmas puddings and pigs in blankets is a huge contribution and it is with thanks to this magnificent level of support that Hospice at Home can continue to provide vital hospice care free of charge to patients and their families, making a huge difference in our local community.

"I would like to thank the Cranston Team for continuing support in this challenging year for all as Hospice at Home’s fundraising events are currently cancelled or postponed.”
