This week sees the return of Egremont's farmers, craft and fairtrade market.

The market had been suspended due to lockdown restrictions.

This Friday's market (December 4) is the first of two Christmas markets that will be held throughout the month – a second will take place at Egremont Market Hall on December 18, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

There will be locally produced goods available. Traders taking part include Pie Demand, Shaw Meats, Helen’s Herbs, Hospice at Home preserves, Pies and More, Thompson Bakery, Nice Bites, Lakes leather studio, Loughrigg Farm Veg, Kick Ass Cheese, Creative Seafoods, Felted and Fleece, Fair trade foods and goods.

Stewards will be on duty to help keep everyone safe. There will be a limited number of stalls, spaced to take account of social distancing between traders. Hands should be sanitised on entry, with face coverings worn.

A one-way system throughout the hall will be in place to help with the safe movement of customers, and there will be toilets open for shoppers.

Everyone must enter through the main doors only and exit only through the fire doors at the middle of the building, and numbers will be limited inside the hall.

There will not be any refreshments.
