THERE was sadness after the Cumbrian Constabulary confirmed that a man has died in Carlisle.

Police and ambulance were called to the incident at the detached home on Castlesteads Drive, at the junction with Chesterholm, yesterday afternoon.

One of the street's residents, who didn't want to be named, said they were "shocked" to see about five police vans and two ambulances arrive in the otherwise quiet and well-to-do area of the city.

Police say they had been contacted by the North West Ambulance Service at 1.16pm following the incident in the Belle Vue area.

A spokesman for the Cumbrian Constabulary said: "There are no suspicious circumstances at this time."

A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman said they were called to the scene at 1.06pm yesterday.

The ambulance service sent two ambulances, an operational commander and were initially treating the scene as an "ongoing incident".
