NHS Dumfries & Galloway says the number of coronavirus cases in the area has gone down week on week.

A total of 73 Covid-19 cases were identified in the week ending November 15, while in the previous week there were 98.

The new cases resulted in 373 further close contacts being identified, and again this is lower in number than the 394 contacts identified in the previous week. All close contacts were advised to self-isolate.

In the week ending November 15 a total of 3,216 tests were carried out, compared with 3,403 the week before.

A spokeswoman said: “We are continuing to see community transmission, with evidence that people identified as close contacts of cases are going on to develop.

"It’s highly transferable but no-one should be blamed if they develop it.”
