A CARLISLE man has been jailed after he pleaded guilty to contacting his ex-partner – in defiance of a court’s restraining order.
Philip Joseph Carrigan, 38, of Merith Avenue, Botcherby, flouted the order between November 12 and 16, the city’s Rickergate court heard.
After hearing details, magistrates jailed the defendant for 112 days. Giving reasons, they said the offence was serious because it was committed a week after Carrigan was given a suspended jail term for harassment and criminal damage.
Court papers also say he sent “distressing messages” to the victim. He must pay a £128 victim surcharge.
