Northumbria Police has opened police officer recruitment and is now looking for people who can make a real, positive difference to the lives of others.

The force said while "every day in Northumbria Police is different, each and every one of them is filled with challenges and rewards seldom seen in many other professions."

And now, they are appealing to people of all backgrounds to join their team, to deliver the best service possible, working with diverse communities to keep them safe and fight crime.

Reaching out to hopeful officers, Northumbria Police chief constable Winton Keenen said: “I can’t say that policing at the moment is easy, but I continue to believe it is one of the most rewarding vocations you can ever be a part of.

“Every day brings with it an opportunity to make the lives of other people better and that means you have the privilege of being able to make a real and lasting difference to this fantastic region of ours.

“It’s great that we have reopened our recruitment because it means we can continue to add to the 250 new officers we have already taken on this year, as we look for at least another 167 exceptional people to join our ranks over the next few months.

“We are determined to recruit extraordinary people from every element of our diverse communities, people who will bring those high-standards we have all come to expect from Northumbria Police officers.”
