RUBY

Ruby was a working dog who lived in an outdoor kennel until the day she retired at which point she came to Oak Tree.

Ruby was incredibly sweet and affectionate with everyone she met and this never changed the whole time she was with us; she just loved people and to be as close to them as possible. However, she wasn’t really coping well in kennels and she was placed in a foster home where she adapted really well.

Ruby belied her years as she loved to run and play, particularly with a tennis ball! During her time in foster, she caught the eye of a family who adopted her and, after a short adjustment period, Ruby settled in extremely well and is now loved by all members of the family.

When Ruby’s not walking on the nearby Fells, which she adores, the couch has become her favourite spot to relax on.

Ruby is very happy to have swapped her kennel for a couch and we are delighted for her.

IAN

If you have ever visited Oak Tree you have probably met Ian the cat!

He arrived in 2018 looking a bit worse for wear and wasn’t the most popular cat when he arrived because he would chase off our resident cats and eat their food. Before long though Ian soon had his own place in the group with his very own bowl of food to look forward to each day.

Ian spent his days patrolling our site and would often sleep in our hay barn during the night. After a period of visiting, we didn’t see Ian for a few weeks and the staff were growing concerned. He eventually came back but had acquired some nasty injuries which were treated immediately by the vet.

It was decided to give him his very own pen in the cattery where he spent several weeks receiving some much needed TLC before he was allowed back out, although his freedom didn’t last long! He returned to Oak Tree with a fractured leg and it was decided that after he had recovered, they would find him a home of his own as he couldn’t live in the cattery forever.

Ian eventually found his furever home with a lady who had fallen in love with him after seeing him on our website a year ago and he is thoroughly enjoying his life: eating, playing with his toys and keeping his owner company.

We miss him but we are delighted that he has found such a purrfect home.
