A further two Cumbrians who had tested positive for coronavirus have died in the past 24 hours, according to Public Health England's latest figures.

The report shows that both people who lost their lives were based in Barrow, with no further deaths recorded in the north, east or west of the county.

The figures also show that a further 78 people in Cumbria have received at least one lab-confirmed positive Covid-19 test result in the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of cases up to 8,133 across the county.

The figures for each district are as follows:

  • Carlisle - 17 positive results in the past 24 hours
  • Copeland - 19 
  • Allerdale - 23
  • Barrow - 6
  • Eden - 4
  • South Lakeland - 9

As the nation remains in lockdown, the government guidance on how to protect yourself andf others continues to be wear a mask, social distance, wash hands, and remain in your home where possible.

Lockdown restrictions include:

  • Not meeting socially with anyone indoors, unless they’re in your support bubble
  • Restrictions on number of people at an outdoor gathering 
  • No travel in the UK or overseas, unless for a specific reason, such as education, work or a caring responsibility
