Two Cumbrian organisations have partnered up to do something a little bit different this Christmas.

A gifting tree has been set-up in Shap Chippy in collaboration with Carlisle-based children's hospice, Jigsaw in the hopes of making Christmas better for children this year.

Name tags are hanging from the Christmas tree in the chippy which customers can take and attach to a present which they then leave under the tree. It is then delivered to the child just in time for Christmas.

There is also a digital donation point where people can buy experiences and sessions for the children.

Matt Phillips, co-owner of Shap Chippy, said: "The team is collecting between themselves and their families too to donate what they can. We want to encourage anyone who can donate, to please join us to bring smiles and Shappiness to children across Cumbria this Christmas.

"If there are any other business owners out there who would like to join our cause by getting involved or donating please get in touch with us."
