DUMFRIES & Galloway is moving into level two of the Scottish Government's covid-19 framework because of the rising number of cases.
First minister Nicola Sturgeon made the announcement on Thursday.
The newly introduced Scottish Government system has five levels of protection aimed at controlling the spread of the coronavirus.
The scale runs from zero to four, with zero having the least restrictions and four the most significant.
The measures come into force at 6am on Monday.
Council leader, Elaine Murray, said: “Being in level two means that significant restrictions on our businesses and services will persist.
"We must aim to reduce the spread of the virus sufficiently to meet the criteria for level one."
