A DRINK driver has been banned for 16 months.

Christopher Milnes admitted driving while he had 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit being 35 microgrammes.

The offence took place on September 30 on the B5300 between Allonby and Silloth.

The 45-year-old lives off the same road.

He was fined £120, was told to pay a £34 surcharge to fund victim services and was ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He also had to pay £250 in compensation for criminal damage at a police station.

Milnes damaged a wooden cell and bunk and wall plaster causing £275 in damage.

The criminal damage incident took place on the same day as his arrest. He appeared before Carlisle's magistrates' court on Wednesday.
