FROM salesperson to business owner, a Carlisle man has risen through the ranks of a car dealership to fulfill his life-long dream.

Christopher Scott was a salesperson at Border City Autos before his success and ambition led him to take over the company he worked for.

“Ever since I was a child it’s something I wanted to do," Chris said.

“I’ve been in car sales since I was 17. I left dealership sales and did some DJ-ing for a while.”

More recently he has returned to the industry and, with the previous owners of Border City Autos leaving for pastures new, “it was an opportunity I couldn’t resist. I had the option and jumped at it".

“Everything was going well when I was on sales but I also thought I could do more and be more," he added.

Chris loved working at the dealership under its previous owners Steven and Kevin Bell.

“They’re like family” he said.

Steven has moved to the United States to start his own business in airport transfers.

“I wish him the best of luck with that” said Chris.

Kevin is semi-retired but he still helps out around the business as the new owner finds his feet.

Chris officially took over in August and since then, he is relieved to say, the business is booming.

“It’s been playing on my mind for a while now but it’s great. We’re doing really well on the sales floor.

“We’ve got the valeting service back up and running.”

He strives to make the business he loves bigger and better.

“Everything is pushing forward.”

Covid-19 proved to be an obstacle in the career move but he feels that the success of the business is exciting for the community during a difficult period.

“With everything that’s gone on it’s good to see something positive," said Chris.

“You see people losing their jobs, I’ve just employed a new member of staff. We’ve kept all our old team.”

The business is celebrating Halloween with special offers and promotions to give their faithful customers a treat – keep an eye on their Facebook page for more information.

The family business is located on Crown Street, Carlisle.

New and used vans and cars are available as well as valuations.
