This is the last chance for Creative Cleator Moor residents to enter a 'Past, Present and Future' competition.

The Cleator Moor Town Board – the community group driving towards a significant funding bid for the town – has launched the competition as part of its community engagement programme.

Residents are invited to submit a photo, video or piece of artwork of the town under the theme of ‘Past, Present and Future.' All entries will form part of an online exhibition at the end of October. There are three categories: under-12s; age 13 to 21; and 22 and over.

Winners of each category will receive a family pass to The Beacon Museum in Whitehaven.

Kayleigh Daniels, chairman of the Cleator Moor Town Board, said: “We know that the Cleator Moor community is incredibly proud of our town and our heritage, and ambitious for our future. This competition is a fun way of giving our residents of all ages the chance to share their view of their town, and how would they like to see it develop in the future.”

Closing date for the competition is October 23 at 5pm. Email info@cumbriaaction.org.uk to enter.

The town board is also inviting answers to a ‘Have Your Say’ question: “What is the one thing you would change about Cleator Moor to increase trade and job opportunities?” Answers should cover the themes of: local transport; digital connectivity; regeneration, planning and land use; arts, culture and heritage; skills and training; and enterprise and creating new business.

Ms Daniels added: “It’s incredibly important the views of our community feed into the plans as they develop, and there are a number of ways to get involved. Further to the competition and the ‘Have Your Say’ question, we have held sessions specifically to engage the town’s businesses community and young people, with more planned over the coming months.”
