Aspatria town Council is adding its objections to plans to build 65 new homes in the town.
The council has been prompted to objected partly by the sheer number of residents who are against the proposal and has agreed to submit a formal objection to Allerdale planners.
Cllr Mike Little said he had looked through the residents' submissions and could find none in favour of the development.
Cllr Alan Reay said his concern was that there was an area across the road from this development where planning permission had been given to build 35 houses.
"I don't even know now who owns or owned the land but work started on preparing the ground and it has just been left in a mess."
Councillors agreed that there was no need for another 100 houses in the town - or the capacity to cope with what could be another 200 cars.
The entrance and exit would be onto a road used by factories in the area.
