Talented Cumbrian goalkeeper James Trafford's rise at Manchester City continues - after he was added to their latest Champions League squad.

Former Carlisle United academy player Trafford, from Greysouthen near Cockermouth, has been named on City's 'B List' of players ahead of their clash with FC Porto.

The England youth keeper, 18, is rated highly at City, where he has come through the ranks since joining from the Blues aged 12.

Trafford may not necessarily figure in the matchday squad tonight, but City confirming his availability for the group stage among eight young players is another sign of how the Cumbrian is impressing at the Premier League giants.

Clubs must submit two lists of players, with City having already named a 21-man 'A List' squad comprised of senior players, with the B List - which must be made up of players born on or after January 1 1999 and who have been eligible to play for the club for at least two years since their 15th birthday - having to be filed no later than 24 hours before a European tie.

Trafford, who was handed a professional deal with the club earlier this year, is on the B List along with England star Phil Foden as well as Eric Garcia, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adrian Bernabe, Cole Palmer, Felix Nmecha and Tommy Doyle.

Boss Pep Guardiola named three senior keepers in his 'A List' squad, those being Ederson, Zack Steffen and Cumbrian veteran Scott Carson.

City face Porto at the Etihad Stadium at 8pm tonight.
