A CHARITY has appealed for residents to take part in this year's Christmas Jumper Day event.
Hospice at Home West Cumbria has asked people to help raise money by donning a gaudy Yuletide sweater as part of its drive to raise £1m a year to help keep it going.
The annual nationwide event is due to take place on December 11 but the charity said people can choose any day they wish.
A spokeswoman said: "It’s nearly that time of year again and our festive fundraising plans are well underway.
"We’re asking families, friends, schools, workplaces and the whole community to join in and support Hospice at Home West Cumbria’s annual Christmas Jumper Day.
"We know things may be a little different this year, but it doesn’t matter where you are, you can still take part.
"We have a virtual fundraising pack to add an extra bit of festive cheer - so all you need to do is dig out your best, or worst, Christmas knit and raise money for your local hospice."
