Today we’ve been looking back in our archives at photos of Carlisle's Harraby Secondary School. The school was built to accommodate the families who lived in the new estate built after the Second World War and opened in 1956. By 1958 more than 2000 council houses had been built on the New Harraby Residential Estate.

The school was renamed the North Cumbria Technology College in the 1990s and subsequently merged with St Aidan’s School to form the Richard Rose Central Academy in 2008. Initially based on the Harraby site, it moved to a new building in the city centre in 2011.
