Seaton Junior School pupils dressed in blue and pink to raise funds and awareness for a charity close to many hearts.

The school was backing the ‘Remember My Baby’ charity, which offers a gift of baby remembrance photography to UK parents experiencing the loss of their baby before, during or shortly after birth.

Photographer Louise Brogdon, of Little Blessings Photography, has been accepted as a volunteer for the charity and said: “We will visit the hospital and capture memories of the little ones so that parents have something to treasure.

“As a volunteer photographer I will be able to provide this service to West Cumberland Hospital.”

The organisation fundraises in order to provide the service to parents free of charge.

Louise came in to Seaton Junior school to snap the children wearing blue or pink in support of the charity. They each paid £1 for not having to wear uniform.

She said: “Visiting the children on Friday was wonderful we had lots of fun throwing around pink and blue confetti. It was lovely to see them all wearing something pink and blue to support “Remember My Baby”. I’m really grateful for the support from the school.

“Amazingly Seaton Academy are also going to do a non uniform day on October 16 to support Remember My Baby too.”

The pupils gave £304 which will be match funded by the school. So a cheque will be sent to the charity for £608.

Remember My Baby is a UK charity made up of volunteer photographers and image retouchers that provide a free service to parents that have sadly lost their beautiful babies.

Louise said that sadly volunteers in West Cumbria are very few and she is the only one in the area, which means that she will not always be able to attend. She is hoping that more newborn photographers in the area will consider volunteering to increase the chances of this service being available to all those that request it.

She added: “Although it’s a heartbreaking time for a family, as a volunteer it is an honour to meet these little ones and capture the love that they are surrounded by.”

“Remember My Baby” can be contacted directly via their freephone number 0808 189 2345 to try and source a volunteer.

However, if the hospital is aware of a volunteer for their area they can contact the charity to see if someone is available.

The charity relies upon donations to offer this free service. Donations can be made at www.remembermybaby.org.uk or by calling them on Tel: 0808 189 2345
