A further 74 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Cumbria - 76 fewer new cases than the day before.

The number of positive cases in Cumbria since the start of the pandemic has now reached 3,903.

Barrow - 873 (+17)

Carlisle - 936 (+9)

Copeland - 457 (+6)

Eden - 270 (+3)

South Lakeland - 816 (+22)

All five areas recorded fewer new cases than the day before.

No new deaths were recorded at either of the two NHS trusts with acute hospitals in Cumbria.

On Sunday, however, the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust - which operates sites including the Furness General Hospital in Barrow and the Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal - announced one new death, taking the total at the trust to 183.

The fatality was recorded on October 2.

The trust has recorded eight new coronavirus deaths in the last week.

According to the latest NHS England figures, the last death recorded by the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - which runs the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven - was on September 1.

The total death toll at this trust is 183.

It is important to note that there is often a delay between a death and its announcement.
