Fire fighters were called to the rescue after a blaze started in a home.
Teams from Carlisle East and Carlisle West were called to the scene at Corby Hill at 10am yesterday, where they found the property's kitchen on fire.
The blaze was tackled using a hosereel, thermal imaging camera and small tools.
Once extinguished, the crews carried out a home safety visit, fitting smoke alarms in the house before leaving.
The team stressed that this is a free service, available to anyone – simply call and ask for help with the safety of your home.
"We cannot stress how important it is to have working smoke alarms," they said.
