FROM, rooms with four poster beds to hotels with their own pillow menu, there are some truly luxurious hotel rooms in Cumbria.

Even if you aren’t planning a luxury break, this is your chance to take a peek at some of the most gorgeous hotels in the county to see why they have such a high star rating.

Using Booking.com, we have found some of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in Cumbria with a four or five star rating.

A spokesperson for Booking.com said: “Our platform caters to all and weekend getaways are a great way to break up routines and make incredible memories in a short space of time!

“In the current climate, some travellers may wish to indulge a little more when it comes to their trips away- especially given that many of us have been booking trips closer to home in light of the current restrictions and therefore, saving money on other travel costs such as flights and transfers.

“Therefore, we may see people investing in more lavish accommodation than they would historically, and treating themselves to somewhere a bit higher in budget.”

Among the wonderful hotels Cumbria has to offer is four-star Farlam Hall Hotel and Restaurant at Brampton, offering top service from £189 per night.

The traditional country house has a rustic and humble exterior, with five star luxury waiting for you inside, along with a two-rosette restaurant and 12 fabulous bedrooms to choose from.

A spokesman for the company said: “In addition to our beautiful bedrooms and suites, four spectacular cottages are currently being restored within the hotel grounds.

“Once complete guests will be able to combine the luxurious perks of our stunning hotel with the privacy and independence of their own opulent holiday cottage.”

Carlisle's Crown Hotel, at Wetheral, is also a top pick, with luxury leisure facilities ready and waiting, including a 10 yard pool and squash courts.

But if you don't quite fancy being active, a sauna and steam room should certainly melt your troubles away.

The hotel was refurbished in 2019 and has a total of 61 bedrooms for guests to choose from, each of which is uniquely designed with thoughtful extra touches.

Another magical Carlisle hotel is family-run business, The Sally, located near Hadrian's Wall and Carlisle Airport.

The team pride themselves on going the extra mile to please their guests and create rooms with character and personality – and they even have a pillow menu to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.

The third Carlisle hotel to rave about is Pentonbridge Inn, with charm-aplenty offered at this special B&B.

With nine beautifully decorated rooms, and many offering views to the stunning Cumbrian countryside, the inn has been designed with the rural landscape in mind, combining wood, slate and tweed – and of course fresh flowers and fluffy towels are available on arrival.

Keswick also has plenty to offer, with the The Castle Inn Hotel by BW Signature Collection making our top-five list.

Originally a coaching inn which dates back to the 1700s, this venue has since been modernised into a four star venue, and boasts great views of Bassenthwaite Lake, as well as a pool, sauna, tennis court and games room.

Best of all, this hotel allows four-legged friends to stay for just £10 per dog per night.
