Emergency services were called out after a woman was in the water at a Cumbrian marina.
Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team were joined by Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team in rescuing the casualty who was holding onto a boat at Workington Marina off Stanley Street.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service, Cumbria Police and North West Ambulance Service were also alerted to attend shortly after 7am this morning (September 25).
Firefighters managed to secure the woman, who is in her 50s, and extracted her to a place of safety. She was then handed over to paramedics and was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, where she has since been discharged.
A Cumbria Constabulary spokesman said: "We would like to thank the two members of the public who assisted officers with getting the female to safety."
Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team thanked the member of the public for raising the alarm.
A spokesman said: "We would like to thank the first informant for raising the alarm, which ensured all the necessary assets were deployed to bring this incident to a safe and swift ending.
"In a coastal, sea or cliff emergency call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
