Cumbrian pioneering rehabilitation centre Calvert Reconnections has welcomed a new member to its senior management team.

Dr Sarah Green has been appointed centre manager of the Keswick residential care home, which is forging ahead with a leading approach in helping those with brain injuries to progress with rehabilitation.

As a partner and research and development manager at a specialist dementia care home, Dr Green played a key role in establishing the centre as a leading residential care home, training and research provider while also developing a rehabilitation pathway for people living with alcohol related brain damage.

The development of the pathway consisted of assisting individuals to rebuild their meaning of life, engaging in social enterprise and developing motivation through sport, work, hobbies and social cohesion.

Dr Green has a keen interest in sport and rehabilitation, having conducted doctoral research into the restorative benefits and values of adaptive sport in the rehabilitation process.

In her role as centre manager at Calvert Reconnections, Dr Green will work closely with the senior management team including clinical lead, Dr Amy Burns; centre director, Sean Day; and head rehabilitation coach, Rob White.

Following Dr Green's appointment, Mr Day said: “We are thrilled to welcome Sarah to Calvert Reconnections.

"Her extensive experience is ideally suited to our centre manager role.”

Dr Green said it was an "exciting time" to join Calvert Reconnections, which is the UK’s first intensive adult brain injury rehabilitation centre focused on outdoor activities.

“I am looking forward to playing my part in the success of the centre and to ensuring we deliver an exceptional quality of personalised rehabilitation," she said.

Located on the outskirts of Keswick in the Lake District, Calvert Reconnections, run by the Lake District Calvert Trust, is a new neurorehabilitation, residential centre providing ground-breaking rehabilitation programmes for adult brain injury survivors.

Calvert Reconnections has developed the UK’s first Covid-19 compliant brain injury rehabilitation programme combining traditional interdisciplinary clinical therapies with physical activity in the outdoors.
