An online event will help businesses learn more about how to use technology to improve their productivity.

Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership will host the free session - An Introduction to Made Smarter - tomorrow between 2pm and 3pm.

The Made Smarter pilot is a two year national adoption programme designed to give small and medium-sized manufacturers the digital tools, innovation and skills they need to make a difference to their businesses.

The introductory event will be chaired by the LEP's chief executive Jo Lappin and include Made Smarter’s relationship manager Allen Camm.

They will be joined by Jayne Moorby, marketing manager of Oxley Group, in Ulverston, who is a Made Smarter board member, as well as the Cumbria Clock Co’s joint founder Keith Scobie-Youngs and principal development engineer at NIS Ltd, Marc Green.

The Cumbria Clock Co, in Penrith, and NIS Ltd, in Chorley, have both benefited from the programme.

The event will be a chance to find out more about the programme and demonstrate how it is already benefitting businesses in Cumbria.

So far 13 Cumbrian businesses have secured matched funding as part of the scheme, which is forecast to deliver an additional £9.96m in gross value added for the county's economy over the next three years.
