AN INDEPENDENT bookshop in Carlisle is working with a national publisher on an event featuring a well-known local face.

Bookends, in Carlisle, is working with Penguin to celebrate the newly released English Pastoral by Cumbrian farmer James Rebanks.

He will be in conversation with Professor Alice Roberts, who is a broadcaster, author, and a biological anthropologist.

The event will take place online on Monday between 8pm and 9pm.

Penguin is working with four other independent bookshops as booksellers for the event.

If a person purchases a copy of the book with their ticket to the event, the money will go to the independent bookshops.

Bookends wrote on social media: "We're so excited to be working with Penguin Books on this exclusive online event with James Rebanks who will be interviewed by Alice Roberts."
