BARROW’S Market Street Car Park is set to be transformed into a drive in cinema experience this week.

A series of films will be shown from the location - adjacent to Barrow Town Hall - at set times starting tonight.

The privately organised event will then continue on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 18, 19 and 20.

Motorists are asked to remember that Market Street Car Park will be closed from 5pm each day to allow organisers to set up the big screen and for movie-goers to arrive.

Parked vehicles must be retrieved by this time or drivers will not be able to access them until the following morning.

The drive through cinema experience will feature seven films over its four-night run in the town.

The event, Small Town Big Screen, is being brought to the town by Experience Creators and its managing director Charlotte Ducie, who is from Barrow.

Tonight’s showing on the massive 40ft screen will be Disney film Moana.

Tomorrow will see Dirty Dancing, the 80s classic, and Freddy Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

They will be followed by Trolls World Tour and Joker on Saturday night.

The last of outdoor cinema will see the showing of musical favourites The Greatest Showman and A Star is Born.

Organisers say the films have been for mass appeal across different age groups.

The screenings will work by tuning your radio to a certain frequency.
