AN APP is set to be rolled-out next week to help protect from coronavirus and provide important updates.

The NHS Covid-19 app is set to be released across England and Wales from September 24 following successful trials with residents on the Isle of Wight and in Newham, London.

The app displays a notification if the user has been in close contact with someone who may have coronavirus.

Users can also track a stint in self isolation with the app and book a coronavirus test.

The app can also be used to check-in to a venue, benefitting the NHS Test and Trace service. An important function of the app also allows users to check their symptoms against the latest information on Covid-19.

A spokesperson for the NHS said: "You'll be asked a number of simple questions with ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers. The app will then tell you whether or not your symptoms mean you may have coronavirus."
