Penrith and the surrounding district has always had a strong reputation for sport of all kinds and today we have been looking back through our archives and found pictures of their successful rugby, football and tennis teams.
The area also puts a big emphasis on involving young people in sport and our photos show members of the successful Castletown under 10 team back in 2001.
There are plenty of kind hearts in the area as well and sports teams combine their love of the outdoors with fundraising.
Our photos include the Penrith ladies’ hockey team with their families and friends raising money for Sport Relief back in 2004.
The Eden area is obviously perfect for all kinds of outdoor pursuits – fellwalking, running and triathlons to name but a few of the pastimes available.
