Plans have been revealed for a new lorry park between Longtown and Gretna, north of Carlisle.
A planning application has been submitted to Carlisle City Council requesting permission to construct a new lorry park just over two miles west of Longtown, which would provide up to 40 lorry parking bays.
The site, just under a mile east of Gretna, would also include a commercial van garage, should the plans, which were submitted last week, be approved.
It is expected that the lorry park will cater to drivers in need of rest from a period of two to three hours to overnight stays.
The proposal also includes plans for the construction of a cafe and toilet block, usable only by those staying in the park.
It is not proposed that the lorry park will be signposted from the motorway.
