A TEENAGE motorist has been banned after he was caught drink-driving and driving without a valid licence.

Aidan Joseph Henderson, 18, of The Banks, Seascale, appeared at the magistrates' court in Workington on Friday.

He admitted both offences, which happened on July 10 at Seascale.

The court heard that Henderson drove a Vauxhall Corsa on Gosforth Road, when he had 51mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

The legal limit is 35mcg.

He also admitted driving the car otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising him to drive a motor vehicle of that class.

He was banned for 14 months, but his ban could be reduced by 14 weeks if he successfully completes a drink-driving rehabilitation course.

Henderson was also handed a £120 fine and ordered to pay £85 court costs and £34 surcharge to fund victim services. He has until September 4 to pay the £239 he owes to the courts.
