Fire crews were called-out last night to a derelict building ablaze in the Carlisle area.
Carlisle West Fire Station were called-out at 9.15pm last night to reports of a fire in Kingmoor, Carlisle.
On arrival they found a large derelict building "completely ablaze."
Crews were mobilised to support Carlisle West including Penrith Fire Station and Longtown Fire Station.
Three additional pumps and a water bowser were needed to tackle the fire.
The fire is ongoing but under control with inspections being made throughout the day.
Carlisle West's watch manager said: "It was quite deep seated.
The derelict building was not a priority once extinguished.
"It was in the middle of nowhere. When it's a derelict building we take appliances away, we try to limit our time at effectively what was a large rubbish fire.
Crews fought the blaze defensively into the night.
"We're just leaving it open due to the conditions we were under."
