People in Carlisle will be able to get their coffee, donut, and car wash fix all in one place as a new cafe is set to open in the next couple of months.

It is hoped that the Car Wash Cafe, based on Church Street, will be ready to open at the end of August or early September.

The cafe is a joint venture between Richard and Sarah Miller and Bruce Brown and Luke Jackson from Bruce and Luke’s.

It is a drive-thru coffee and donut service that will give motorists the opportunity to satisfy their tastebuds whilst waiting for their car to be cleaned.

News and Star:

Luke Jackson, of Bruce and Luke’s, said: “People love coffee and they’re on the road and want to stop for a coffee.

“People hardly have time to wash their car so it’s like this cool marriage we have come up with between myself and Bruce, and Sarah and Richard.”

The drive-thru cafe has two lanes which can each fit about five or six cars.

Initially, they had also hoped to have an indoor sit-in cafe but that plan has been put on hold until things are safer.

“The right hand lane is car wash only so someone hand washes the car and it’s a contactless system,” said Luke.

“On the other lane there is a screen wash and a coffee and donut lane.

“You order through a tannoy system and someone will run out with the coffee, donuts and shakes for you.”

News and Star:

The cafe is bringing more to the city than just a good car wash, a caffeine hit and baked goods.

At a particularly tricky time for the economy, the Car Wash Cafe will bring some confidence to other retailers.

“I know a lot of people with amazing businesses that are just maybe scared or unsure about what the future looks like for them,” said Luke.

“Hopefully by us continuing to grow, it just shows a bit of confidence that there still is opportunity there, there still is a way that you can try your dream out and give it a go.”

The coffee connoisseurs have recently opened a shop in Keswick which has been received well with queues outside the door.

But, they haven’t got any plans of slowing down yet.

“We’ve got another two potential sites in reach at the moment as well,” said Luke.

“We’re just trying to keep on growing while we can.”
