CUMBRIA County Council has said it's to get a share of a £100m investment package to help the area recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
The council is one of 29 authorities to get part of the pot after the announcement by Government on June 30 - to help kick start local economies.
The county's share is £4.968m, and it will be used to fund improvement works, with a focus on key routes susceptible to flooding.
The funding will be spread across all six county districts.
Councillor Keith Little, the county council’s cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said: “Cumbria has experienced the devastating impact of a number of severe weather events over the last few years.
"The impact of climate change means these events will become more frequent and due to our location and geography, Cumbria is likely to be impacted more than other parts of the country.”
