A road is closed in Bigrigg, Egremont with a diversion in-place until July 31 due to essential works on gas mains.
The highway's authority, Cumbria County Council has closed a section of road in Bigrigg off the A595.
The affected section of road stretches from Pallaflat Cottages to the Croftlands housing estate.
Northern Gas Networks are carrying out essential work to replace metal gas mains in the road which were ageing. They will install more durable plastic pipes. The work in progress began on July 13 and is expected to last until July 31.
Cumbria County Council has said that this may cause delays for the A595.
A spokesperson for Northern Gas Networks said: "This is to ensure that we continue to provide safe and reliable gas supplies to local residents and businesses for years to come."
Delays are also likely between Cleator Moor and Frizington as United Utilities carry out excavation works.
