We have been back open now for a month, and what a paw-some month it has been!

We’ve had a mixture of sunshine and rain, but we have still had the pleasure of welcoming back our supporters, brand new visitors and that little bit of normality everyone needed.

Now back fully open is our outdoor adventure playground, our indoor seating area in Tibor’s Chip Shop and you can hand-feed kangaroos, wallabies and all of the birds in the World Wide Safari area.

Continuing with our strict cleaning regimes, extra hand sanitising points, hand wash areas and constant reminders about social distancing throughout the zoo, we have the best possible place for a great family day out.

Our hand-feeding experiences are due to trial over the next few weeks so that we can get those back up and running again.

Health and safety risk assessments must be carried out before we can give them the go-ahead, but we hope to see giraffe, penguin and lemur feeding back before the month is out. I know, it’s just far too exciting.

All our furry, feathery, scaly and four-legged residents are enjoying having people back to see them and we have introduced a new open afternoon for our team of animal carers, who get to head out and introduce activities that allow visitors to watch and get involved with – things like feeders, making enriching objects for the animals and also giving an insight into each of our animals at the zoo.

There are just so many amazing things to talk about.

If you are thinking of heading to the zoo, remember to check our website (www.safarizoo.co.uk/buy-tickets-online) or Facebook page for details of how to pre-book your visit.
