A MAN has been charged with using threatening behaviour likely to cause alarm after police were called to a city centre on Saturday.
Police were called at about 9.30am on July 11 to reports of a man with a weapon in a store on English Street, Carlisle.
Stefan Cartwright, 26, of John Street, Carlisle was reported to have stated he had a weapon in the store, a gun and a knife.
Cartwright has been charged with using threatening behaviour likely to cause alarm and will appear at Carlisle's magistrates' court on September 7.
A spokesman for Carlisle Business Crime Awareness said: "I would like to thank the partnership team who dealt with this incident putting themselves into what could have been a very serious incident to protect others and the very quick response of Carlisle’s armed police."
