PLANS have been submitted to turn a former student flat into a gym.

Carlisle City Council planners received the plans on July 3.

They are to turn the former flat in Maltmill House on Bridge Lane in the Caldewgate area of Carlisle into a gym.

The application has been submitted by Wayne McKnight of Old Brewery Developments Ltd.

The building in question is Grade II listed, according to the application documents.

The existing number of parking spaces at the site - currently at 34 - will be increased to 36.

Plans show that the gross internal floorspace of the property is 150sq m.

Only minor alterations will be made to the building, with an existing timber window to be removed and replaced with an aluminium one.
