A motorist who was caught more than twice over the drink-drive limit has been banned from the roads.
Michael Dodd, 61, of Derwent Row in Broughton Cross, Cockermouth, admitted drink-driving when he appeared before magistrates in Workington last week.
The court heard that on April 12 he drove a Vauxhall Astra on Derwent Row, when he had 85mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mcg.
Dodd was banned for 22 months but the length of his ban could be reduced by 22 weeks if he successfully completes a drink-driving rehabilitation course.
Magistrates also imposed a £168 fine and ordered him to pay £85 court costs and £34 victim surcharge.
