A man who has desperately been trying to raise as much money as he can for Stanley Dalton has just finished the second of 10 challenges.

Dom Scott, from Carlisle has set himself the goal to complete 10 challenges all while raising money for Stanley’s justgiving page.

His first challenge saw him walk the streets of Carlisle for 24 hours in fancy dress while collecting money for the cause.

He also decided to shave his beard into a handlebar moustache until all £500,000 of the money has been raised.

His latest challenge saw him cycle 1,000 miles, most of it in fancy dress.

Dom explained: “We’ve had to split the events up because of the weather.

“I was back out on Sunday to clock up the last of the miles.

“It’s been hard, but it was nice that we were able to get out.

“I’m going to go out and help people on the way with their challenges.”

As well as the biking challenge, Dom also took part in a pub crawl at the weekend too.

This saw him and other members of the public dressed in pink, wearing as little as possible touring the pubs in Carlisle making the appeal known to as many people as possible.

Speaking about how the challenges are going so far, Dom said: “We completed the 1,000 on Sunday.

“We also did a Great North cycle on Saturday.

“It all went great, the pubs were great too. There was a great turn out.

“Some of the pubs were absolutely fantastic, they really put in the effort for us.”

Dom is now preparing for his third challenge which starts on Sunday.

This will see him complete the equivalent of a marathon in each park in Carlisle, starting with Bitts Park.

“There’s four marathons round four different parks,” he said.

“People can come along and join in and walk a couple of miles with me.

“I’m just hoping to get these challenges up and running.”

Mike James, who organises the Carlisle Half has helped Dom to plan this marathon challenge.

Starting on Sunday, he will only have one rest day before tackling the second marathon.

It is hoped he will finish the four marathons at Hammonds Pond the following Saturday.

Dom said: “It’s brilliant. The response we have been getting has been great.

“I’m not going to stop until we get this little man what he needs.

“Anything we can do to help, we will.

“If we can just keep it going he’ll soon be there getting his treatment.”

Dom has another couple of ideas in the pipeline for his next challenges to take him to the 10 challenges for Stan which he will release details of soon.
